Jyotika On Bollywood: Jyothika is a very famous actress of South Film Industry. Recently, Jyothika was seen in Ajay Devgan starrer Shaitan and now she will be seen in Rajkumar Rao’s Srikanth. Jyotika started her acting career with Akshay Khanna in the Hindi film ‘Doli Saja Ke Rakhna’, although this film was a flop at the box office.
When she did not get much work in Bollywood, Jyothika turned to the South Industry and earned a lot of name there. Jyotika was away from Bollywood for more than 25 years. Now in an interview, the actress revealed why she stayed away from Bollywood for so long?

In an interview given to News 18 Shosha, Jyotika told that in all these years no film producer from Bollywood reached out to her. He said, “I did not get offers from Hindi films even once. I moved into South films 27 years ago and since then have worked only in South films. My first Hindi film did not do well in theatres. It’s all very formula-based. To get more offers, your first film must do well.
What is the difference between South Industry and Bollywood?
Jyothika further says, “When I started my career, there was a whole group of girls working with big production houses. Even my film was produced by a big banner, but as fate would have it, it did not take off. Luckily, I had signed a South film and got away from Bollywood” The actress also said, “I would also like to point out that that film also did not do well at the box office. But I got many films based on the response to my acting in them. There was definitely a clear difference between the two industries.
People accepted that she did not want to do Hindi films.
Jyothika further says, “After moving to Chennai and then marrying Surya, many people in Mumbai felt that she was not interested in returning to the Hindi film industry. Even in Bollywood, people thought that I was South Indian and they assumed that I did not want to do Hindi films anymore. It was a journey and I am still grateful for it. I did some amazing work there. It is not that I have avoided doing Hindi films. The only thing is that no script has been offered to me in so many years.

Let us tell you that Rajkumar Rao’s ‘Srikanth’ may be his second release after his Bollywood comeback, but he had signed it before ‘Shaitan’. She was in a lot of tension on the first day of the shooting of the film. She says, “Speaking in Hindi was also like a very old memory for me because I had stopped speaking this language some time ago. I was very nervous for the first two days. I acted very badly on the first day! I kept bothering myself that I am back in Bollywood and how!”
However, he felt comfortable playing the role of a South Indian in Srikanth. She says, “I was also very emotional. Because in the film, I had a special connection with the South. I love the South and I respect it. “I thought initially for me it was a beautiful blend of both worlds,” says Jyotika.
